What to expect when you visit us... When you first walk into Burwell Baptist Church you will be met by a couple of greeters who welcome you and give you a program for the day. Others will be standing around talking and some will introduce themselves to you. You will see two 300 pound guys holding offering plates (just kidding!). As you look around you will see that people are dressed comfortably. Our goal is to make people feel at home and we want to make sure that people are not feeling uncomfortable. We think church should be enjoyable, fun, and a safe place to discover who God is. As you find a chair to sit in you will possibly hear music playing and announcements being shown up on a screen. When it is time to begin the service, get ready for a relaxed atmosphere of singing and messages that are practical. The worship team leads the music time with contemporary style music and an occasional hymn but the singing time is upbeat. The words to all the songs are up on a screen. We have an announcement time after the first couple of songs along with a time for people to greet those around them. We don’t point out visitors or try to make them feel uncomfortable. When the music is finished, whoever is speaking that morning shares practical truths from the Bible that help us in everyday living. You will see that the bulletin you have been given has an outline of that morning's message to make it easier to follow along. There is a children’s church program for children from four years old to second grade. Kids are dismissed after the singing time to go and have their own program. We leave it up to the parents if they want their children to participate in that or not. We also have a nursery for little ones that is well kept and run by people who have a heart for kids. When the message is over we close with a song and dismiss. People enjoy hanging around and talking with others. We hope you meet some more of the folks at Burwell Baptist after the service also.
